Fighting Hunger One Meal at a Time: OVP Launches Kalusugan Food Truck Program

To help combat malnutrition and hunger among Filipino children, the OVP launched the Kalusugan Food Truck Program — a mobile kitchen initiative that delivers warm, nutritious meals directly to schools and communities in need. Designed to serve undernourished students, evacuees, and frontliners in disaster-affected areas, these food trucks bring nutrition support where it matters most. This program aims not only to feed hungry stomachs, but also to support healthy development, provide immediate relief during calamities, and promote a government that acts with compassion and urgency. Every meal served is a step toward a healthier, stronger, and more cared-for Filipino community.

Other Functions of the Kalusugan Food Truck

  • Supports community outreach programs by bringing food assistance to far-flung or underserved areas where regular feeding programs are difficult to conduct.

  • Assists local government units (LGUs) during events, crises, or community activities where additional food support is needed.

  • Helps supplement existing feeding programs of DepEd and LGUs by providing a mobile kitchen that can cook large quantities of food efficiently.

  • Strengthens the OVP’s disaster response operations by making sure that food can be prepared on-site, even in areas where kitchens or supplies are not available.

  • Provides immediate relief to frontliners and volunteers during emergency operations, ensuring they stay nourished while responding to crises.
