Vice President Sara Z. Duterte

Sara Zimmerman Duterte, widely known as Inday Sara, currently serves as the 15th Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines. She has also served as Secretary of Education, where she spearheaded initiatives to strengthen the country’s basic education system. Born on May 31, 1978, in Davao City, she is recognized as the youngest Vice President in Philippine history and only the third woman to hold the position.

Vice President Duterte began her academic journey studying Respiratory Therapy at San Pedro College before pursuing a career in law. She earned her law degree from San Sebastian College – Recoletos and successfully passed the bar examination, laying the foundation for her legal and public service career.

As Mayor, she implimened several flagship programs, including Byaheng Duterte, which prioritized 30 key projects for Davao City's development, and Peace 911, a peace-building initiative that promoted stability and growth in conflict-affected areas.
Her public service career began in local government, where she served as Vice Mayor of Davao City from 2007 to 2010. She was later elected Mayor of Davao City, serving from 2010 to 2013. and again from 2016 to 2022.
In 2022, Sara Duterte was elected Vice President of the Philippines. During her tenure, she concurrently served as Secretary of Education, advocating for reforms that improved teacher support, student welfare, and access to quality education. She also expanded the Office of the Vice President's social programs, such as Libreng Sakay (Free Rides), Kalusugan Food Trucks for children, and community-based livelihood initiatives.

Vice President Duterte is the daughter of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Elizabeth Zimmerman. She is married to Atty. Mans Carpio, and together they have four children.
